DIGITAL PICNIC IN THE SOUTHEAST, JUNE 20TH 2019

When and where is it on?

Southeast Digital Picnic is an exciting new digital marketing conference event taking place on the 20th of June 2019 from 9am until 5pm at Wells House & Gardens, Ballyedmond, Gorey, Co. Wexford, Y25 CF96.

Wells House and Gardens is a spectacular venue in the heart of Wexford set over 450 acres with charming historic buildings, magical woodland walks and beautifully landscaped surroundings. The conference itself will take place in their newly built state-of-the-art Robertson Hall followed by a picnic themed BBQ buffet in the courtyard with breathtaking views of the countryside.

How many years has it been going?

2019, is the first year for launching Southeast Digital Picnic and we’re very excited with the response! The digital marketing conference has had a huge interest from both the UK and Ireland with attendees coming from all over the country for the event! Founder and organiser Sarah-Jane Vincent, Miss Content Creative is delighted to be bringing it to Wexford this summer! The BBQ Picnic themed event is the first of its kind in Ireland and promises to be a fun and educational day full of in-depth insights and actionable sessions from leading brands and industry experts.

What was the inspiration to start it?

Being part of the educational and IT industry for over 15 years, with a passion for teaching, and digital social innovations, Sarah-Jane wanted to combine both. When you’re having fun, you’ll engage and learn more! It makes it easier to network and build better relationships.

Most conferences follow a similar format, e.g. indoors, breakout sessions, food and networking sessions. The inspiration for this inclusive indoor/outdoor event was to do something different, fun and upbeat while recognising such a thriving county and showing what it has to offer.

What makes Southeast Digital Picnic different is that each session provides an interactive and immersive experience with actionable tips, tricks and strategies from leading brands and industry practitioners. Instead of speakers hiding away, they will be participating and enjoying the day; engaging and supporting others from their seats in the audience.

We’ve tossed the usual soggy and boring sandwiches aside. Instead, opting for a picnic style BBQ buffet where attendees can relax, network and have fun outdoors while enjoying additional entertainment.

Most digital marketing or tech conferences are held in Dublin but times are changing and the sunny South East region is an up and coming and vibrant place for startups, and SME’s. In a recent survey by CRIF Vision-Net they stated that start-up figures are at their highest in 13 years. Dublin and Cork account for the highest number of companies setting up and the good news is that growth in Wexford is up 38%!

Disruptive technology is rapidly changing the way consumers interact and engage with brands. This presents a number of challenges for businesses. Therefore, it is vital for them to learn how to embrace social and digital technologies to ensure they remain relevant and work smarter as an industry.

It’s our mission to help startups, SME’s and marketers in Ireland grow and thrive by empowering them to use social and digital platforms effectively for future growth opportunities. Click To Tweet

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Learn new skills. It’s fair to say social media is permanently in maintenance mode. No matter how experienced you are or whether you’ve just completed a digital marketing course – it’s probably old news by now. The educational aspect of a digital conference can expose you to the latest insights that can impact the future growth of your business.

Connect with other professionals. Whether you’re after digital know-how, networking with Ireland and the UK’s top decision makers or looking to connect with new clients; attending a digital marketing conference in 2019 is a great way for businesses or their marketing team to stay up to date with the ever changing world of social and digital technologies. Southeast Digital Picnic presents an ideal setting to collaborate with other peers in your industry and connect with them before, during and after the event.

Encounter new vendors and suppliers. Discovering innovative services and products helps you stay current in today’s fast-paced environment. All too often people avoid the exhibitor stands at conferences for fear of having to talk to salespeople. Exhibitors are actually some of the best and most helpful people if you want to get to know more about the current business climate. They understand what is happening inside your industry and can give you a competitive advantage. Next time, instead of avoiding exhibitor stands, why not try investing time with the sponsors at the event and turn them into friends and associates.

Make more money. Attending a digital marketing conference is an investment. One of the major aspects of attending is the positive and almost instantaneous effect it has on your work and sales performance if you implement the correct strategies that have been suggested by professionals. With the vast networking opportunities and valuable inputs from speakers and sponsors, you will be able to come up with new strategies to grow your business and increase sales much quicker. Those who invest in expanding their knowledge either for themselves or a staff member, instantly become more invaluable to the company.

Just one idea from a digital marketing conference event can save or make a company a great deal of money.

Gain exclusive access to speakers. We have just released a limited number of VIP tickets for those who are interested in gaining exclusive access to the speakers before the event. They will be able to meet them personally and join them for dinner on the night before the event takes place. This is a great opportunity to ask those burning questions directly and take the perfect promo shot for your social platforms! What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Sort your social media and online platforms out. If you plan to network at the event, make sure your brand is on point! Use the same professional profile image and cover photo across all your social networks so it’s easy for people to identify you. Be active on social media! No-one likes to see a brand that hasn’t published anything since last year. It’s not a great look.

Create a twitter list. Check out the event page where you will find the Southeast Digital Picnic speakers information and twitter handles. Find out who else is attending and add them to your list so you can keep an eye on everything that’s going on leading up to the event as well as during and after the event, which is when the list becomes most valuable.

Use the official twitter hashtag. By using the event hashtag you will be discoverable to those attending or with an interest in the event. You will also be able to conduct a hashtag search on twitter to see who else is talking about the event. Start and engage in meaningful conversations and don’t forget to add the event hashtag to become recognisable. Simples! The official hashtag for Southeast Digital Picnic is #DigitalPicnic19

Connect with others on social media. Try to build both meaningful and strategic relationships with other attendees on social media. Follow them on twitter and add them on other social platforms such as LinkedIn.

Come prepared. Be sure to have your business card holder stacked up and your phone fully charged! Take a phone charger or power bank with you just incase. Do your homework on the speakers and future prospects so you can connect on a deeper level. Don’t forget to prepare for any personal questions you might be asked so you feel comfortable talking about yourself or the company. Arrive early to get the best seats. Dress presentable. You just never know who you might bump into and what opportunities may arise.

Take notes. It’s a good idea to take notes and screenshots of the sessions so that you can reflect on what you’ve learnt and put it into action after the event. You can share the screenshots on social media to engage your audience and provide them with exciting and informative content about the event.

Take selfies. Grab a selfie with the speakers and share it on social media. Be sure to tag them.  Most events have branded backdrops so get someone to take a picture of you and your colleagues which will make for a new profile image or fun piece of social content. It’s a great way of showing others that you are investing in your knowledge and expertise and that you were there at the conference. Above all, it’s a nice memory to have and look back on to see all the inspiring friendships and connections you made.

Create an epic roundup or recap of the event. People love a good roundup or recap of an event. Be the first to provide all the top tips of the day by searching the official event hashtag on twitter to see what attendees shared the most and use this information to write a stellar blog post. You could also do a shorter twitter post listing top key takeaways of the day. Again, be sure to tag important people including the speakers themselves.

Use and implement the information. You now have all this incredible information at your fingertips. Start implementing the bits you like for your business and watch the magic happen. Share your newfound knowledge with others.

Follow up. Follow up. Follow up. Now that you have made all these amazing connections make sure you follow up with them and keep in contact regularly to maintain and build the relationship to take it to the next level.
